Yesterday I spoke about how this project was about making more people aware of Fairtrade. As I said earlier on in this project, half of any funds I raise will go to charities working in the developing world, however the remaining amount will be used for an enviromental project. This will take the form of a new eco friendly green fairtrader store. I want to design and build a store thatcan offer everything my current store does but with virtually zero emmissions of CO2. There are a growing number of new ideas appearing on the market which will help me achieve this. I want to see if it is possible to change an existing store to a new kind of Zero Store and by doing so find out the most cost effective way of applying all the new science without a huge cost. I also want to see if it is possible to reduce my standard costs. The costs involved in lighting, cooking and heating. I plan to film this conversion to enable fellow businesses to take ideas from the project to apply them to their business or home. During the making of this project I plan to calculate how much CO2 was consumed through travel, by car, bus train and planeetc, and then offset it by making a donation to a charity that help developing countries apply their own energy saving ideas. If, for instance they did not use fossil fuels to heat thier homes, but used solar or wind power this would benefit the planet. It could be cheaper and easier to do this, by using these alternative forms of power, that are all around us.
